Project Goal Brand Creation Summary
Project Goal
This project was assigned in my Graphic Design class as a partner project. I worked with my classmate in order to create a brand of sorts and create an identity for it. We each came up with our own brand ideas and ended up choosing on of mine.
La Poutinerie is a play on Belgian Fry shops called "Friteries" where you go to literally just buy fries. I wanted to a Canadian version of this including one of my favourite foods, poutine. The restaurant would offer the classics to many weird and wacky combinations. I already had the logo pictured in my head, however a wrench got thrown into my plans, the logo had to be black and white, but I wanted to use red as it's the colour of the Canadian flag. We had to produce a logo, letterhead, business card, and implement our logo onto various products.

Brand Creation

Initial Ideation
This was indeed the logo I originally imagined minus the red that would've been in the maple leaf. I was worried without the red it wouldn't be as recognizable but I was glad to be proved wrong.

As for the Logotype we chose a font that had an old timey feel, something with a serif but still easy to read.

La Poutinerie Logo
Logotype

To the left is a cute Parisian storefront that would be ideal for one of the La Poutinerie shops. To the right is the letterhead which features the logotype, logo, contact info, and a maple leaf watermark to fill the blank space.
On the left is our business card which features the logotype centered on the page, the logo above it, the necessary information below and an outline of the bottom of Canada as the top is very busy and would interfere with the legibility of the business card. We wanted to keep with our old fashioned feeling with very recognizable outlines.

Summary
This has been one of my favourite projects to date, I got to combine my love of design and food into one. I also got to bring in my culture and family background into the brainstorming process. I got to develop my leadership skills in this project as partner was very shy and wasn't confident in himself. I encouraged him and worked with him to include his input into the designs and project.
